3,000 Dead Currently in the Middle East as Iran Militia Threat Empties US Embassy

The message from Washington could not be clearer: leave Iraq now. On April 2, the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad issued a Level 4 alert warning American citizens that Iran-aligned militias may strike central Baghdad within 24 to 48 hours, targeting hotels, airports, universities and businesses.

The airspace is shut. Overland routes to Jordan and Kuwait are the only exits remaining.

This is what happens when state authority collapses and sovereignty yields to armed proxies answerable to a foreign regime. Iraq's government, too infiltrated by militia networks to act decisively, openly admitted it cannot prevent attacks launched from its own soil. Some militia members reportedly carry Iraqi government identification. The line between state and terror has dissolved entirely.

The regional toll is staggering: over 3,000 dead across the Middle East, Iran's largest steel producer shuttered, Gulf fuel depots ablaze, and a kidnapped American journalist held for ransom in Baghdad.
